Tara Alvarez

Tara Alvarez received a B.S. studying Electrical Engineering in 1994, and a Ph.D. in 1998, specializing in Biomedical Engineering from Rutgers University, New Brunswick.  She is a member of Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, and Sigma Xi.  In 2005, she received the NSF early CAREER award to study motor learning of the oculomotor system and facilitate the development of a Neural Engineering Program. Her interests include signal and functional image processing pertaining to the understanding of motor learning and control.
 
She was a Member of the Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories from 1998 through 2001.  Currently, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark.
