Jorge E. Monzon

Jorge E. Monzon received the PhD degree from the Northeastern National University (UNNE) and the Electronics Engineer degree from the National University of Tucuman, in Argentina. He received two MS degrees, in Electrical Engineering and in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in 1986. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at UNNE, where as a Full Professor he teaches courses on digital systems and on bioinstrumentation. As Research Project Director he works on biomedical digital signal processing.  He has lectured in several countries in Latin America. He is co-editor of the book Cardiac Fibrillation-Defibrillation (Intermedica Press) and contributing author to Interfacing Sensors to the IBM PC (Prentice-Hall, NJ) and to Bioinstrumentation (Wiley, NY). He has been guest co-editor of the IEEE EMB Magazine. He has been president of the Latin American Regional Council on Biomedical Engineering (CORAL), an organization co-sponsored by IEEE/EMBS and IFMBE. He was the founding president of the Argentine Society of Bioengineering. A Senior Member of the IEEE,  he has been elected EMBS Vice President for Member and Student Activities (2006-2007). He chaired the 2003 IEEE-EMBS Conference in Cancun, Mexico. He was EMBS AdCom member as Region 9 (Latin America) Representative for two terms, and he actively participates or has participated in several committees of the Society, namely Constitution and Bylaws, Conferences, Regional Conferences. He is listed in Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who´s Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who in America.
